Rules of Engagement

Or what is commonly known among the creatively challenged as an "acceptable use policy and licensing agreement"

All military and paramilitary operations routinely have rules of engagement (ROE) that determine how their tactics and weapons will be used. What follows are the rules of engagement or acceptable use policy and licensing agreement for any guerrilla marketer who wishes to use this site.

Guerrillapedia is like Wikipedia in a few fundamental ways. Guerillapedia is a collaboration between guerrilla marketers world-wide.  You are invited to freely add articles, further information, cross-references, or citations, and edit articles so long as you do so within Guerrillapedia's editing policies,  which will be updated from time to time.  You do not need to worry about accidentally damaging Guerrillapedia when you add or improve information, as other editors are always around to advise or correct obvious errors, if needed, and the Guerrillapedia software, is carefully designed to allow easy reversal of editorial mistakes.

Guerrillapedia is a place for you to share the best guerrilla marketing intelligence, strategies, tactics, weapons and market tested experiences. Do jump in and boldly share what you know. However, Guerrillapedia is not a soap boxAll articles should focus on reporting facts, objectively verifiable guerrilla marketing experiences, proven guerrilla marketing strategies and tactics, creative applications of guerrilla marketing weapons, new  tools  that may have guerrilla marketing applications and the like. Guerrillapedia is not the place to insert personal opinions, or arguments and all submissions should strive for accuracy.

Guerrillapedia articles are  not  the place to promote your products, services or yourself. All submissions should be instructive, useful and clearly beneficial to the community. Spam, advertising, blatant self-promotion, self-serving articles, or biased reporting will be deleted. The best way  to use Guerrillapedia  for "marketing" is to write articles that are well supported and demonstrate your expertise.  You are allowed to mention your product or service in your "signature" at the end of your article (below your name).  However, no overt marketing is allowed, such as special offers, discounts, etc.

All posts must be verifiable and traceable to an identifiable source.

Articles submitted should be on the subject of guerrilla marketing or related in some relevant and useful way. Off topic articles will be deleted.

Guerrillapedia has the same code of  conduct as Wikipedia: Respect your fellow guerrilla marketers  even when you may not agree with them. Be civil.  Avoid making personal attacks or sweeping generalizations. Stay cool when editing gets hot; find consensus; avoid edit wars; follow the Wikipedia  three-revert rule; and remember that the main purpose of Guerrillapedia is to create a truly useful resource for all guerrilla marketers.  Further, act in good faith, never disrupt Guerrillapedia to make a point  and assume good faith on the part of others.

The guerrilla marketing brand has a long and respected reputation. By allowing you to post to Guerrillapedia, you are gaining access to the  community of people who trust and rely on the guerrilla marketing brand. Consequently, Guerrilla Marketing International and Jackstreet Media reserve the right to be the ultimate arbiter of what is acceptable use and what is not and to change and evolve the acceptable use policy as needed without notice.

Contributors' rights and obligations

If you contribute material to Guerrillapedia, you retain copyright to your materials but by contributing, you thereby license it to the public under the Guerrillapedia Open Content License

In order to contribute, you must be in a position to grant this license, which means that either:

    · you hold the copyright to the material; for instance, because you produced it yourself, or

    · you  acquired the material from a source that allows the licensing according to the Guerrillapedia Open Content License

You can later republish and relicense them in any way you like. However, you can never retract the license for the copies of materials that you place here; these copies will remain under Guerrillapedia License forever.

By submitting material to Guerrillapedia you agree to allow the material to be mercilessly edited, and distributed at will, subject to the discretion of the Guerrillapedia administrator and the terms of the Guerrillapedia Open Content License (GOCL).   Do not submit copyright infringements or works licensed in a way incompatible with this policy.

Using copyrighted work from others

All works are copyrighted unless they either fall into the public domain or their copyright is explicitly disclaimed. If you use part of a copyrighted work under "fair use", or if you obtain special permission to use a copyrighted work from the copyright holder under the terms of our license, you must make a note of that fact (along with names and dates).

Never use materials that infringe the copyrights of others.

Linking to copyrighted works

Since most recently-created works are copyrighted, almost any Guerrillapedia article which cites its sources will link to copyrighted material. It is not necessary to obtain the permission of a copyright holder before linking to copyrighted material. If you know that an external Web site is carrying a work in violation of the creator's copyright, do not link to that copy of the work.

If you find a copyright infringement If you suspect a copyright infringement, you should at the very least bring up the issue on that page's comment page. Others can then examine the situation and take action if needed. The most helpful piece of information you can provide is a URL or other reference to what you believe may be the source of the text. If some of the content of a page really is an infringement, then the infringing content should be removed, and a note to that effect should be made on the talk page, along with the original source. If the author's permission is obtained later, the text can be restored.

If all of the content of a page is a suspected copyright infringement, then the page should be listed on Guerrillapedia: Copyright problems

In extreme cases of contributors continuing to post copyrighted material after appropriate warnings, such users may be blocked from editing to protect the project.
